Try writing one or more outcomes that relate to the goal you wrote earlier in your Assessment Plan Worksheet. Don’t forget to use direct, specific action verbs to describe what the students should be able to demonstrate upon completion of a program.

Assessment Planning

Examples of Outcomes

Program level assessment generally includes two or three outcomes that relate to a single program goal. With three to five program goals, a program has to consider the appropriate number of outcomes to measure at any given time.

Some examples from ISU programs include:

  • Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of physiological, psychological, and sociological significance of play, recreation and leisure.

  • Graduates will be able to collect and organize appropriate clinical data obtained from field experiences.

  • Graduates will be able to identify various aspects of infrastructure diversity in their design projects.

  • Students will be able to defend or refute their decision to incorporate emotional, historical, or classical aspects of performance in their work.
